March, 2003 KIOSK INFORMS VISITORS ABOUT THE NORTON MUSEUM OF ART CHINESE COLLECTIONMARCH, 2003---As part of a plan to enhance the visitor experience, the Norton Museum of Art, located in West Palm Beach, FL, chose EDR Media to develop dynamic new solutions for their recently expanded facility. Part of this plan is a kiosk using interactive media to showcase a portion of the Museum’s Chinese collection. The presentation features 20 objects from the Museum’s vast Chinese art collection, with pieces ranging from 100 to 5,000 years old. With the kiosk, users can view stunning artworks up close while learning more about each piece’s place and time of origin and cultural significance. Traditional Chinese music, selected by Beachwood Studios, accompanies the presentation, further enhancing the user experience. The music is accessed at random when an object is selected, keeping the presentation fresh and exciting. Users navigate through the collection via a scrollable Timeline that places the pieces in their proper historic context. Clicking an object on the Timeline transports users to a section detailing the object further. Certain objects allow users to zoom in closer to examine elements not readily apparent to the untrained eye. Full access to the Timeline, Glossary and Help sections allows users to view another object, learn more about Chinese terms, or receive tips on how to operate the program. [back] |
