January 2009 EDR'S SOUND DESIGNERS CHALK UP LATEST TOY DESIGN SUCCESSEDR Media's sound design team is proud to have contributed to the development of the "50's Diner" from Step2® -- named by Toys'R'Us as one of the "Fabulous 15" new toys of the 2008 holiday season. The Step2® toy is a retro-themed diner featuring a classically styled kitchen, as well as a tabletop with a working jukebox. EDR created the jukebox's three musical selections - a doo wop-style ballad, a Jerry Lee Lewis-style piano number, and a Chuck Berry-style guitar solo performed by renowned guitarist Neil Zaza. In addition to the Toys'R'Us honor, the 50s Diner has also received several other industry awards, including a "2008 Best Toys" award from Parents Magazine and a Family Fun "Toy of the Year Award" for 2008. In addition to extending their longstanding relationship with Step2®, the EDR audio team provides dialogue and sounds effects production for novelty toymaker Just For Laughs. Other related projects have included original sound design for Cap Toys, original sounds and dialogue production for Leapfrog Toys, and sound design and music for the Wild Republic's groundbreaking original website. States Audio Director Steve Simmons, "We are thrilled to help highly innovative toy manufacturers, like Step2 and others, realize their creative vision, bringing toys to market that kids and parents absolutely love." In addition to these accomplishments in sound design, EDR's visual effects team has recently expanded the Company's service offering to the toy industry by providing promotional videos for trade shows. One example for toy giant Fisher Price: a marketing "sizzle" video, featuring both 2D and 3D animation, for its "Light Sketcher" product. [back] |
