October, 2004 “BEADS, BAUBLES AND JEWELS” SPARKLE IN NEW SHOW PRODUCED AT EDR MEDIA’S BEACHWOOD STUDIOS PRODUCTION CENTERProducer Kathie Stull is busy putting the finishing touches on an intriguing new craft-oriented “how to” program at EDR Media’s Beachwood Studios Production Center in Beachwood, Ohio. As the show’s name Beads, Baubles and Jewels implies, the program is all about teaching viewers how to make their own jewelry and do their own beading. “Beads are the second fastest growing category in crafts and there’s a strong resurgence in jewelry making,” observes Stull in explaining the inspiration for her new show. Each half-hour show will feature three important elements: education, inspiration and personal expression. Stull observes that “The program will showcase that jewelry-making and beading are easy enough that even a novice can craft fashionable jewelry.” “This resurgence of interest in making your own jewelry and beaded items has a strong multi-cultural influence borrowed from today’s fashion trends,” explains Stull. “It’s rich colors and textures mimic the exotic sights and sounds of an imaginary foreign country,” smiles Stull, “so it’s sort of like Casablanca meets Cairo.” This trend is reflected in the show’s exotic set, which was designed and built by Warren Brown, EDR’s production manager, and his crew. All shows in the series were shot and will be posted at EDR’s Beachwood Studios Production Center, which includes Avid editing, designing the show opening and other graphics on a Flame compositingÔ system, plus custom music and sound design. Adding variety to the show will be a series of guest experts, including a glass blower to show how beads are made, a metallurgist for forming silver, plus editors of various bead and jewelry magazines. Beads, Baubles and Jewels is hosted by Katina Forte and will be broadcast to public television stations across the country via the National Educational Telecommunications Association beginning November 10, 2004. Other educational shows produced by Kathie Stull include Hands On Crafts for Kids and Scrapbook Memories. Katherine Stull used her craft knowledge, media experience and business savvy to found the very successful Katherine Stull, Inc. in 1990. Since then Kathie has been involved in the creation, production and marketing of over a dozen “how-to” public television shows. EDR Media develops and produces a broad range of digital media including broadcast television shows, radio and television commercials for advertising agencies, corporate video and interactive programs, and content for retail media networks.
